The Faculty of Agriculture of Tottori University
is originated from the Tottori Agricultural College founded in 1920.
Since then the College gradually expanded and became a university
institution designated as the Faculty of Agriculture of Tottori University
in 1949. Due to rapid advances in science and technology in recent
years and to meet new social demands for sciences, the Faculty was
reorganized in 1999 into two scientific schools: The School of Agricultural,
Biological and Environmental Science with a 4 year term of study,
and the School of Veterinary Medicine with 6 years.
The Graduate School of Agriculture consists of Agricultural Sciences
for the Master's course, the United Graduated School of Agricultural
Sciences for the Doctor's course, and the United Graduate School of
Veterinary Sciences also for the Doctor's course.
In April 2005, three new centers were established in the Faculty
of Agriculture; the University Filed Science Center, the Fungus/Mushroom
Resource and Research Center, and the Avian Zoonoses Research Center.
All these new Centers together with the University Veterinary Teaching
Hospital play important roles for education and research. Furthermore,
the Faculty of Agriculture is strongly associated with the Arid Land
Research Center of the University for education and research. |
